The protests in downtown Akron from Sunday escalated during the week as police used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse peaceful protestors with multiple arrests.

The city first instituted a curfew Sunday night after demonstrations in downtown Akron turned violent. The order was lifted Wednesday morning only to be reinstituted Thursday night.

Renewed curfew for Downtown Akron

Police arrested seven more protesters late Wednesday and early Thursday. An online video shows an Akron police officer repeatedly punching a man during an arrest.
