The lease for Akron鈥檚 proposed year-round farmers鈥� market has been signed.
, which holds seasonal markets near Highland Square, is looking to open the new market beneath the . Tracy Emrick, the conservancy鈥檚 executive director, says the idea is to give Akron its own smaller version of Cleveland鈥檚 West Side Market.
She hopes the project will add to Downtown Akron鈥檚 revitalization.
鈥淲e just love what鈥檚 happening in downtown right now and we just feel really grateful that we鈥檙e able to step and get this project going and 鈥� hopefully 鈥� be a contributor to the growth of downtown,鈥� she said.
Emrick hopes to have the market open by late July.
