Five museums in Summit County will open their doors at discounted prices this summer for families and individuals who are on food stamps.
The five venues are the, , the , and . Visitors will show their state issued food-assistance card at the door and pay between $1 and $3 per person.
Stan Hywet鈥檚 president Sean Joyce sees this as an opportunity to engage a part of the community that wouldn鈥檛 ordinarily visit these museums.
鈥淛ust looking for the opportunity to give them and their families time together, give them some memories and maybe hopefully inspire the next generation of artists - art lovers.鈥�
The initiative is part of the national 鈥� program launched in 2014 by the to provide easier access for families on food assistance.
The program is on-going and will start July 1.
